Sarah Jane Nader defended her sister Brooks Nader’s viral topless moment on a boat during a family boat trip in Sardinia, Italy.
“I mean, I think Brooks said it best,” the Dancing With the Stars season 35 competitor, 24, exclusively told Us at the 2026 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Monday, September 14. “It’s like, our dad [Breaux Nader] is a girl dad. He has selective hearing and seeing.”
While on the red carpet at the Peacock Theater, Sarah Jane added, “Like [Brooks] said, we are just like free girls. I don’t know what else to say.” The model noted that the incident wasn’t “that deep.”
“It really isn’t,” she reiterated.
Brooks previously addressed her topless bikini moment while chatting with Entertainment Tonight.
“I had the time of my freaking life,” she said of her fun-filled summer. “I don’t care if I’m not from Europe. I’m from Louisiana. I grew up in an all-girl household. We’re always naked together as sisters.”
Brooks continued, “My dad’s half blind, so he didn’t even notice. He was like, ‘I don’t care.’”
“He has selective hearing and selective seeing,” the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model quipped. “I was just having the time of my life and really not thinking that anyone was documenting some of it, but we love it. It’s great.”
Brooks initially clapped back at critics who raised their eyebrows at the moment via social media in August. She reposted a photo of herself going swimming fully clothed and covered up. “Are we happy now?” she playfully captioned the post.
In the photo, Brooks wore a semi-sheer black Gucci dress complete with a plunging neckline and halter straps, as well as an open back. She hilariously even kept her black heels on while swimming, and her sunglasses.
Earlier in August, Brooks was photographed walking around a boat with her sister, dad and mom Holland, in nothing but crochet bottoms. Her family looked unfazed at her going topless, and the photos quickly circulated around social media. People were quick to share their mixed reactions in the comments section.
“It’s definitely not a normal thing in Europe to get naked in front of your dad,” one user wrote, while another commented, “This is not typical in Europe. We do NOT show our boobs to our father.” A third added, “Absolutely not! That’s past weird.”
While some thought it was strange, others didn’t see a problem with the matter. “Am I the only crazy one who thinks this isn’t weird?” one questioned. A second agreed and wrote, “Who cares, it’s just a body part.”
