Tracy Anderson is the kind of friend who isn't afraid to call her pals out for being on the chunky side — even if said pal is Gwyneth Paltrow. In an eye-opening, wide-ranging interview for beauty website Into the Gloss, the fitness guru opened up about her early struggles with body image, starting her fitness empire, and meeting the Oscar-winning actress who would one day become her friend and business partner.
Anderson, who trained to be a professional dancer but felt held back because of her build (she measures just 5 feet tall and "by dancers' standards, I was fat," she explained), first met Paltrow in 2006, after she gave birth to her second child, Moses, now 7. "She said, 'I know you have a son — I just had Moses — and I can't get this weight off. I've never had a problem like this in my life,' " Anderson recalled.
Paltrow "had 35 extra pounds on her. Her butt was long and she had outer thigh problems," the celeb trainer, who has also helped sculpt Madonna's body, detailed. "Gwyneth is lucky because she's really tall, so she can hide it really well in clothes, but she had significant problem areas."
Fortunately, Anderson decided to take on the famous mom of two as a client. "I felt so badly for her, and thought I could really help. So, I agreed, and she did everything I asked. Now, seven years later, she looks younger every year; she's totally transformed," Anderson raved.
