When a 53-year-old Alec Baldwin began dating his wife, Hilaria, in 2011, the actor had babies on the brain.
“It was funny because when we first met, he wanted to make sure I wanted to have kids,” Hilaria tells Us Weekly. “I had just turned 27. We went six weeks where he would only shake my hand. He wouldn’t even kiss me! And he would say, ‘Do you want to have kids? I’m at the age where I need to be serious with who I meet and I need to put all my cards on the table and tell you what I want.’”
Though Hilaria admits it was “a lot,” Alec was a breath of fresh air. She was used to men who played games. “I was dealing with guys my age who would maybe call me back,” Hilaria tells Us. “But Alec was very upfront with what he wanted in the beginning. He really wanted to have more kids.”
The three-time Emmy winner, now, 59, got his wish. As Us previously reported, he and Hilaria will welcome their fourth child — a son — this spring. (Alec is also the father of 22-year-old daughter Ireland, whom he shares with his first wife, Kim Basinger.)
The mom of Carmen, 4, Rafael, 2, and Leonardo, 13 months, said she was “in shock” when she learned she was having another boy. “I cried when I found out! I wasn’t upset about it, but I was overwhelmed!” she tells Us. “I really do believe that this baby was meant to be and will come and we’ll be completely obsessed with him.”
Hilaria, 33, is thrilled to be having another boy, while Carmen is understandably slightly bummed. “Carmen was a little disappointed because she’s been wanting a little sister,” Hilaria explained. “I don’t know if I can do 5!”
The Yoga Vida cofounder and the 30 Rock alum met at a restaurant in New York City in February 2011 and wed at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in June 2012.
