Ashlee Simpson and ex-husband Pete Wentz are more than happy to sit next to each other at school functions for their 9-year-old son Bronx. Simpson, 33, sincerely loves spending time with the Fallout Boy bassist and his model girlfriend Meagan Camper.
“They’re wonderful,” the Ashlee + Evan star gushed to Us Weekly on Friday, September 7, noting that she “lucked out.” The E! personality’s husband, Evan Ross, feels the same way about their coparenting situation.
“It could go all different ways,” Ross, 30, revealed to Us. “I think the fact that there is a lot of respect amongst all of us. That makes it easier. And we’re all really close friends. It’s easy, we got really lucky with that.”
The 7th Heaven alum and Wentz, 39, split in 2011 after nearly three years of marriage. Simpson and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay actor tied the knot in 2014 and welcomed their daughter, Jagger, now 3, the following year. Wentz and Camper — they began dating in 2011 — share son, Saint, 4, and 3-month-old daughter Marvel.
Simpson and Ross, who celebrated their four-year wedding anniversary last month, are blissfully happy. Especially when they’re dining at a franchise. “She put me on the chains. I never wanted to eat at chains until I met her,” Ross admitted.
The “I Do” singer credits herself with keeping Ross grounded. “He’s like, ‘Oh, I need my caviar.’ And I’m like, ‘You don’t know Chili’s?’” she quipped to Us. Ross is now a fan of Olive Garden Bread sticks thanks to his wife. “The breadsticks,” he raved. “With Alfredo [sauce].”
Simpson hopes she’ll be eating Fettucini for two again at some point in the future. As she told Us on Saturday, “I would love to have another child soon.”
