Busy Philipps will add to her brood early this summer, and no one in the Cougar Town actress' family is more excited about their new addition than Philipps' 4-year-old daughter, Birdie! "She can't wait to be a big sister," Philipps enthused to Us Weekly of her daughter with husband Marc Silverstein. "She's been asking for at least a year: When's her baby going to come?"
Choosing to announce her pregnancy via Twitter in mid-December by posting a photo of a positive pregnancy test, Philipps, 33, admits that carrying her second baby is "harder" than her first. "I was shooting Cougar Town through my first trimester and that was really tough," recalls the star. Young Birdie, however, has had quite an impact on her mom's mood, and has lifted Philipps' spirits through her excitement over baby No. 2.
"She talks to the baby and she's just really thrilled," Philipps explains. "I told her though that it's okay to feel two ways about it. It's okay to feel really excited and also nervous or mad or scared. I don't want her to think she has to be super happy about it all the time because I know it's going to be . . . a big adjustment for her."
Opting to keep her baby's gender a family secret, Phillips' second child will have a built-in playmate in big sister Birdie. One thing the 4-year-old is already adept at? Entertaining her adoring fans!
"Birdie came home the other day from school and told my husband and I the entire plot of William Shakespeare's "As You Like It," which I thought was super impressive!" the actress gushes of her daughter, who admittedly hopes for another girl in the family. "They're studying Shakespeare at her Montessori school. She just came home and told us the whole plot! It was hilarious to hear — she knew all the characters' names and who dresses up like a boy and who's mad at whom! It was so adorable!"
