Battle of the bump style!
Jessica Simpson, Snooki, Vanessa Lachey and Reese Witherspoon are only four of the more than 65 stars who welcomed babies in 2012 — but they made a lot of headlines for their maternity clothes. Rather than let their growing baby bumps cramp their style, these ladies embraced their new curves.
Simpson became a mom for the first time on May 1. Before welcoming daughter Maxwell with fiance Eric Johnson, the Fashion Star mentor rocked form-fitting maternity dresses and sky-high heels. Simpson, 32, who is already pregnant with her second child, is set to launch a Jessica Simpson Maternity line in the fall.
"I'm so excited to partner with Destination Maternity to design a collection of fashionable styles that make you look and feel great!" she said in a statement released in May. "You want to wear clothes that are flattering to your baby bump; you want to show your bump off."
Snooki welcomed her first child with fiance Jionni LaValle, son Lorenzo, on Aug. 26. The pint-size Jersey Shore star, 25, consulted Jeni Elizabeth for tips on creating fun maternity outfits. Snooki continued to wear her famous platform pumps, mini dresses and lots of animal print while pregnant.
Throughout her pregnancy, Lachey tried to switch up her maternity style. From long maxi dresses to tight jeans and tops, the Wipeout host, 32, wore chic mom-to-be designs. Lachey welcomed son Camden, her first child with husband Nick Lachey, on Sept. 12.
Nearly nine years after the birth of her second child, Witherspoon, 36, welcomed son Tennessee on Sept. 27 with her second husband Jim Toth. But the third-time mom-to-be styled modern maternity clothes through her pregnancy, and proudly showed off her baby bump. Witherspoon wore short, tight dresses and long red carpet gowns that accentuated her curves. The actress even wore a one-piece swimsuit while on vacation with her family in Costa Rica in April.
