Giuliana and Bill Rancic’s son, Duke, will officially celebrate his 6th birthday on August 30. But the 5-year-old already already blew out candles with his summer friends.
“There was a big cake,” Giuliana, 44, told Us Weekly. “We said, ‘Duke, what theme would you like?’ There’s so many different games out there and characters.” Duke replied that he wanted a confection shaped in the likeness of an Emirates airplane. (The model Duke requested features shower spas!) Giuliana, who returns as cohost of E! News on Tuesday, September 4, was not even the least bit surprised. “He’s obsessed with traveling and airplanes,” the TV personality explained, adding that Duke sported a pilot shirt at his bash.
As favors, Giuliana and her businessman husband of 10 years passed out inflatable planes. And guests — including the adults — were treated to an afternoon of fun that included a dunk tank. (The kids couldn’t get enough of the freezing cold water; the grown-ups not so much!)
Giuliana couldn’t be more proud of the young man she and Bill, 47, are raising. Right now, mom and son are learning to play guitar together. “We sing Hotel California a lot. That’s our go-to,” she gushed to Us. “A lot of John Denver songs. Johnny Cash. Duke has very good taste in music.”
Though Giuliana has her “dream child,” she and Bill are open to the idea of expanding their family. (The Giuliana and Bill alum, who struggled with infertility, welcomed Duke via surrogate in 2012.) While Giuliana would “love” one more, she noted that Duke is “so happy being our little guy.” In fact, he has never once asked for a sibling. “I think he would be cool either way,” she told Us. “And honestly, we’re great either way.”
