Pursuing surrogacy! Lance Bass and more celebrities have brought babies into the world with the help of gestational carriers. The singer and Michael Turchin became parents to twins in October 2021 — but the couple spent three years trying to start their family. The former 'NSync member first told Us Weekly exclusively in March 2018 that he wanted a baby with his artist husband within the year, saying, "I don't think anyone is really prepared to have kids. I think you just have to go with the flow. ... We have tons of friends who have gone through the process. We're interviewing everyone.” In January of the following year, the Out of Sync author exclusively told Us that they were “on donor No. 7.” The Mississippi native explained at the time: "I think we broke a record with how many donors we’ve gone through. But it’s looking like this next one is actually going to work. We’re being cautious.” Bass told Us in March 2020 that the “heartbreaking” IVF attempt had not worked, explaining, "We have tons of friends that are doing IVF, and it was definitely consoling to know that they all went through the same thing we went through. It’s just disappointing. You work so hard for this, you get pregnant and weeks later, it doesn’t stick. But to know that some of your friends have gone through the same thing, you feel like you’re a part of this family. In June 2021, the pair announced via Instagram that they had a son and daughter on the way. “Coming soon,” the couple wrote at the time. While awaiting their little ones, Bass exclusively told Us that their “10th donor was the one that worked.” The ups and downs brought the actor and Turchin “closer together,” he added in August 2021. "I didn’t think that we could love each other more and have a bigger bond, but when you go through an experience of trying to start a family and it's just not working, it could either tear you apart or bring you closer together. … It was quite the journey." The proud mom welcomed her son in August 2015. "I can confirm that Lucy Liu is the proud mother of Rockwell Lloyd Liu, brought into the world via gestational carrier," a rep for the actress told Us Weekly at the time. "Mom and baby are healthy and happy."

“I didn’t have a plan. I just thought, ‘I want to change the conversation a little bit.’ I didn’t want to talk about the next project. I felt like I was reading the same script. I got tired of it. I didn’t want the same dialogue,” the Set it Up actress told The Cut in a March 2023 interview of deciding to explore surrogacy when she was in her 40s. “I’d heard myself say the same things many, many times and just thought, ‘Well, this can’t be what’s next.’ It wasn’t enough.”

She added: “I didn’t mull it over too much. I didn’t do a lot of research, I just pulled the trigger. I can think myself out of something easily; if I think too much I won’t do it. It’s better for me to feel something and just go for it. A lot of people read books about parenting. I didn’t do any of that. I was like, ‘When the child is here, I’m just going to figure it out.’”

The Emmy winner announced in February 2023 that she and her husband were expecting a baby via surrogate "Zoe Saldana and Kim Kardashian have been so helpful to me in this journey and they both gave me all their advice and people," she said on Live With Kelly and Ryan. "And Kim especially gave me this wonderful lawyer named Andy and he found me this woman, Stephanie, who helped me find our surrogate."

Menounos added, "We're just so, so grateful because these people really help you bring life forward and without them we wouldn't have been able to do this."

The Saturday Night Live alum and her husband secretly welcomed their third child, a daughter, via surrogate in January 2023. 

“This is the dawning of the Age Of Aquarius! Our angel Frances ‘Frankie’ Rose Caspe is here! Delivered by another angel, our surrogate and friend, Stacy whom we love and are immeasurably grateful for,” Wilson wrote via Instagram at the time. “Surrogacy is women supporting women in its highest form and it has been a profound experience. Uplifting and inspiring.”

The Star Trek: Discovery star and his partner announced the arrival of their little one in December 2022. “Ken & I are thrilled to share that our family has grown!💜🌟,” the Rent star shared via Twitter. “Our son, Rai Larson Ithiphol, was brought into the world on Friday, December 2, 2022, by an incredibly generous surrogate, to whom we’re eternally grateful. (Rai is pronounced like “rye” or “chai.”) We love him very much.”

In August 2022, the Disney Channel alum announced she and the music producer welcomed their first child, a son, and she thanked their "angel surrogate" in the sweet Instagram reveal. "We have quietly prayed while sitting on this most magnificent secret for the last 9 months," Bailon wrote. "He is worth every tear, every disappointment, every delayed prayer, every IVF cycle, every miscarriage. Everything."

Khloe Kardashian

Us confirmed in July 2022 that the Kardashians star and ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson were expecting their second child together, this time via surrogate. The exes share daughter True, whom they welcomed in April 2018.

Us confirmed that August that their baby boy had arrived. “Both baby and mother are very happy and healthy. Khloé is so thrilled to expand her family,” a source told Us at the time.

The Supergirl alum and her husband welcomed their second child, daughter Louisa, via surrogate in July 2022.

The Gotham actress and One Tree Hill alum welcomed twin boys via surrogacy in October 2021 — a decision that stemmed heavily from the pressures put on women in the entertainment industry. 

"I was terrified of becoming pregnant. I was terrified of putting my life on hold for two-plus years," the Lovecraft Country star revealed to Today Parents in June 2022. "In my industry, it feels like you're easily forgotten if you don't work within the next month of your last job. Things are so quickly paced in what we do. So it's a compromise that we made together as a couple."

Chung said that while “people will probably think, ‘Oh, she’s so vain,’” the decision to have a baby via surrogate is actually a lot more complicated than that. “I worked my ass off my entire life to get where I am,” she said. "I don't want to lose opportunities. I don't want to be resentful."

The Real Housewives producer revealed in December 2018 that he hired a surrogate to carry his child. “I want you to be the first to know that after many years of careful deliberation, fair amount of prayers and the benefit of science, if all goes according to plan, in about six weeks time, I’m going to become a father thanks to a wonderful surrogate who is carrying my future,” Cohen told Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen viewers at the time, noting that family is “everything” to him.

Cohen welcomed his son, Benjamin Allen, in February 2019. The TV host surprised fans in April 2022 when he announced the arrival of his second child, a baby girl named Lucy, via a surrogate. “Thank you to my rock star surrogate (ALL surrogates are rockstars, by the way) and everyone who helped make this miracle happen. I’m so happy,” he wrote via Instagram at the time.

The 90 Day Fiancé alums welcomed their baby boy, Gokhan, via surrogate in April 2022. The little one was born in Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion, and Campisi entered the country with help from Project Dynamo.

“I didn’t have to go alone,” she explained via Instagram at the time. “They planned the logistics including travel into Ukraine, a safe place to stay while in Ukraine and travel while inside. They were with me the entire time.”

Banks opened up about her decision in a February 2012 issue of Lucky magazine."It was a womb issue for me. Embryos wouldn't implant," she said at the time. "It's a big leap, inviting this person into your life to do this amazing, important thing for you. And it's hard losing that kind of control. But our surrogate is so extraordinary, and she's still in our lives. She like an auntie."
