Benji Madden grew up in Maryland with twin Joel Madden before they skyrocketed to fame in the pop rock band Good Charlotte, which they started at age 17.
Benji serves as guitarist and backup vocalist for the group, has released seven studio albums. The band released their self-titled debut LP in 2000, but their breakthrough was with their 2002 album The Young and the Hopeless, which featured hit singles “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” and “The Anthem.”
The Madden twins started a now-defunct clothing line called MADE Clothing along with older brother Josh. Joel and Benji also make up a pop duo called The Madden Brothers, an outfit under which they released two albums in 2011 and 2014.
The pair of rockers started MDDN in 2015. The company handles artist management and development, and Benji is CEO.
Benji was engaged to Australian actress Sophie Monk, but the duo split in 2008 after two years together. Shortly after, Madden began dating Paris Hilton, whose former best friend, Nicole Richie, married his brother Joel in 2010. Benji and Hilton called it quits in November 2008. Us Weekly broke the news in May 2014 that Benji and Cameron Diaz were dating. The pair married in 2015 and welcomed daughter Raddix via surrogate in December 2019.
