Heidi Klum doesn’t show her kids’ faces on social media. So when cameras panned to the supermodel and her daughter Leni, 13, sitting in the audience at the 2017 American Music Awards in L.A. on Sunday, November 19, many viewers were shocked by the pair’s uncanny resemblance. Despite the 31-year age difference, with their honey-colored blonde hair, hazel eyes and chiseled cheekbones, the two looked as if they could be twins.
But Leni has inherited more than just her mom’s good looks. “Sometimes I look at my daughter and I think she’s just like me,” the Project Runway host and judge, 44, told reporters in 2016, adding that the teenager shares her passion for design. “My stylist is at my house all the time with racks and racks of clothes. A lot of the time she will come in and watch the fitting. Now, she comes with her own little dresses because she wants to have them altered.”
The America’s Got Talent judge welcomed Helene “Leni” in 2004 with her former boyfriend, Italian businessman Flavio Briatore. In 2009, at the age of 5, Leni was adopted by Klum’s then husband, Seal. The pair also share Henry, 12, Johan, 10, and Lou, 8.
Klum’s divorce from the four-time Grammy winner was finalized in 2014, but the exes remain amicable. “It’s never really easy, I guess, when you break up,” she told Entertainment Tonight in February. “[But] we’re always there for our children and always will be. You always make it work. You just do.”
