The drama began when the Cravings: Hungry for More author shared a picture of her newborn baby boy relaxing on a lounger. “I know IVF was used for Luna was it used for baby brother also?” one follower asked.

“Yep, he was just on ice a smidge longer,” Teigen replied. “Science and the human body are beautiful.”

While the Lip Sync Battle cohost was happy to answer the question, some followers dubbed the question “inappropriate.” But Teigen didn’t feel that way at all.

“I wasn’t offended by it – people are just curious and I think hearing success stories gives people hope,” she wrote. “I’m all for talking about IVF.”

Her response got plenty of  applause. “Too many people bury infertility in shame. It shouldn’t be so taboo,” remarked one woman. Added another: “Yes to all of this and to destigmatizing the process and the conversation around it!”

About 10 percent of all women in the United States between the ages of 15 and 44 have difficulty becoming pregnant or staying pregnant, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Both Teigen and R&B singer John Legend, 39, have been open about their struggles to conceive.

“I think it’s especially difficult when you can’t conceive naturally. You want to feel like everything’s working properly and want everything to be perfect, but sometimes it’s not,” Legend told Cosmopolitan in August 2017. “I wouldn’t say we can’t conceive naturally, but I would say that it’s enough of a challenge where it felt like we needed help. We’re lucky we’re living in an age where we can conceive in other ways.”
