Jamie Lynn Spears cannot believe her daughter Maddie is graduating from high school.
“Already emotionally unwell,” Spears, 35, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, May 5, alongside a series of snaps of her and Maddie, 17, ahead of the ceremony. “And the actual graduation hasn’t even happened yet.”
In the first photo, Spears posed alongside Maddie as she donned a stole, cords and medals recognizing her academic achievements. The actress also shared a family shot with Maddie, her younger daughter, Ivey Joan, 8, and mom Lynn Spears.
Jamie Lynn also included a video of Maddie walking across the stage to receive her graduation regalia in a special ceremony.
Jamie Lynn welcomed Maddie in June 2008 with ex-boyfriend Casey Aldridge. The actress was still a teenager and starring on the Nickelodeon series Zoey 101 when she found out she was pregnant. Jamie Lynn and Aldridge split less than two years after becoming parents. She ultimately moved on with businessman Jamie Watson, whom she wed in 2014. The couple welcomed Ivey Joan in April 2018.
Last month, Jamie Lynn got sentimental as she was preparing for Maddie’s upcoming graduation ceremony.
“Welp … the grad invites are sent, the cap and gown arrived, and the last regular day of school is here … I guess the lovely state of denial that I forced myself to be in has to end, bc the reality of time is coming at me like a freight train,” Jamie Lynn wrote via Instagram in April. “I know the saying ‘the days are long, but the years are short’ is one of the most cliche sayings, bc it’s said so much, but I now know that cliches are only said so much bc they continue to ring true in every lifetime throughout the test of time.”
Jamie Lynn gushed about how much it meant to see her daughter achieve her many milestones over the years.
“Having the privilege of watching your children grow up is one of the most beautiful & fulfilling things we can experience as humans, and I am so grateful for each every up & down moment throughout the journey of motherhood this far,” she continued. “It’s bittersweet, bc you’re so proud of everything they have accomplished this far, and so excited to watch everything that their future will bring, while also longing for them to stay your baby forever.”
“I know I’m one of luckiest mamas in the world, so I’ll stop my rambling now, until I completely lose it on graduation day,” she concluded.
