Jason Sudeikis has never claimed to be a parenting expert. But the dad of Otis, 3 and 18-month-old Daisy knows he doesn’t want to be like Ed Harris’ character in their Sundance road trip drama Kodachrome.
In the movie, Sudeikis plays an estranged son from his dying photographer father. Otis, Daisy and their actress mom Olivia Wilde never have to worry about Sudeikis disappearing on them.
When the 42-year-old actor was asked about the Dos and Don’ts of fatherhood at the Wednesday, April 18, Kodachrome premiere in L.A., his answer was simple.
“I think staying around is the trick. Being present is a good quality,” he told Us Weekly and other reporters. The Saturday Night Live alum then joked: “At least I’ll know how I screwed them up!”
Otis could be following Wilde, 34, and Sudeikis into show business. During an April 13 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Sudeikis revealed that the little boy is obsessed with dancing along to Michael and Janet Jackson’s 1995 “Scream” music video.
“He’s seen the video probably four times only but will do the choreography,” Sudeikis quipped at the time. He then shared that “Scream” has brought Otis and his little sister closer together.
“All Daisy wants to do is play, but playing to her is putting his toys in her mouth,” the star explained. “So he gets really mad about that, understandably. When I explained to him that that’s Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson is Michael’s younger sister, it’s like of like, ‘Oh, she might be useful!’ He recognizes that, which is good.”
Sudeikis and the House alum ave been engaged since January 2013.
Kodachrome will begin streaming on Netflix on Friday, April 20.
