Jennifer Lopez has entered a new era of parenthood.

“Good morning, everybody. This is a beautiful day, a beautiful morning,” Lopez, 57, began in a Saturday, September 26, video shared to the Instagram page for her JLO Beauty skincare brand.

“I was just about to start my skincare routine, and I was thinking about routines because I’m sure a lot of people are going through this out there. My kids are going away to college,” she continued, referring to her 18-year-old twins, Max and Emme, whom she shares with ex Marc Anthony.

Lopez said she’s been reminiscing about her summer with her kids, noting that she “spent as much time with them” as she could before they went off to college. (While the “On the Floor” singer has not shared where Max and Emme are attending school, she did previously reveal that both of her children were accepted into all five colleges they applied to and had received scholarship offers.)

“We got to go away together [before school started] … The travel was crazy, and it wreaks havoc on your skin. It wreaks havoc on your body, but those routines really keep you going,” she explained. “And I think when they go away, and I’m sitting here being an empty nester and crying and thinking about them and looking at baby pictures of them and all that stuff, these routines are the things that are going to keep me kind of sane.”

Lopez said she planned to focus on “working out, doing my skincare routine [and] caring for myself with the newfound kind of space that’s in [my] life.”

Addressing moms who may feel the same way, the Atlas star continued, “You’re so excited for them to step into this new era of their life. But we also have to remember it’s a new era of our lives too.”

Lopez encouraged fellow moms to use this time to “revive some old dreams that you had” or pick back up “something you put aside during the time that you were raising your kids.”

“Even if it’s just reading books or anything like that, you start these new rituals and routines that can fill the space for when they go away and they’re not down the hall anymore,” she advised. “It’s a scary time. It’s a transitional time. It’s a new beginning in a lot of ways for them, certainly, but also for you. So don’t forget that.”

Lopez concluded, “Keep your routines going. Stay hydrated. Stay happy. Stay joyful. Stay productive. That’s our mantra at JLO Beauty. You know, beauty starts from the inside out.”
