John Krasinski racked up quite a few frequent flier miles while shooting Jack Ryan. The 38-year-old, who filmed the Amazon series in Morroco, France and Canada, jetted home to his family in London every single weekend. No matter what.
The Office alum — he shares daughters Hazel, 4, and Violet, 2, with wife Emily Blunt — revealed on Wednesday, September 5, that the trips were “nonnegotiable” and worth the jet lag.
“My kids are everything to me. My wife is everything to me,” the A Quiet Place director told Today. “You just have to make the effort and I was so glad to. It was tiring but you have to, you just have to do it.”
Meanwhile, Krasinski could soon be visiting his former The Office castmates. The actor, who played wise-cracking Jim Halpert on the NBC hit that ran from 2005 to 2013 , noted he’s up for a holiday reunion. “That U.K version had a Christmas special,” Krasinski said on Today. “That to me was the coolest thing to pick and see where they’ve been. I’d do whatever. I mean that’s my family, these people were basically the beginning of not only this career, but this whole new life and I so I love everybody there.”
Krasinski has come a long way since The Office. As Hoda Kotb pointed out on Wednesday, there is buzz that A Quiet Place will be nominated for an Oscar. But the Massachusetts native prefers lazy weekends at home with his girls to red carpets and award shows. “Sunday is spent just hanging out as a family, making pancakes or going to the park,” Krasinski told the Las Vegas Review-Journal in April. “I do diapers. I do it all. I’m basically Emily’s assistant.”
