Diaper duty continues! Katherine Heigl is pregnant and expecting her third child with her husband, Josh Kelley, Us Weekly can confirm.
The Grey’s Anatomy alum, 37, and Kelley, 36, will soon be welcoming a baby boy into the family. The couple are already parents to daughters Adalaide, 4, and Naleigh, 7.
Heigl and the singer-songwriter met on the set of Kelley’s “Only You” music video in 2005 and tied the knot in December 2007. They adopted Naleigh in 2009 and Adalaide in 2012.
“Josh and I started talking about [adoption] before we were even engaged,” Heigl told Scholastic Parent & Child in February 2012. “My sister, Meg, is Korean, and my parents adopted her three years before I was born. I wanted my own family to resemble the one I came from, so I always knew I wanted to adopt from Korea.”
She added: “We have talked about having biological children as well, but we decided to adopt first. I just wanted to be a mom. So however we did that, it’s fine with me.”
Kelley needed a little more convincing about adopting baby No. 2. They thought the process would take years, but were shocked when their lawyer called and said that a birth mother in Korea was due in four weeks.
“I had to talk Josh into that one,” Heigl told Jay Leno in December 2012. “He thought it was gonna be a few years, and that we were gonna end up with more of like a 9-month-old or 10-month-old, and he looked at me and said, ‘You’re telling me [that] in a month we’re gonna have a newborn?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, it’s perfect timing, don’t you think? Look, we’re both here, we’re not working. This is great. We can spend time with her.’ It actually has been beautifully serendipitous and graceful, because we’ve gotten to spend all this wonderful time with her.”
Heigl and Kelley now mainly reside in Utah with their family. In May 2014, she gushed over her longtime love while attending an ASPCA private party in Beverly Hills. “I think that we just really enjoy each other. He’s kind of my best friend,” she told Us Weekly at the time. “I think that can be tricky. When it starts to become too much of a friendship and not enough of a romance, that can also be a problem.”
