A source tells Us that Kardashian, 37, was the first person to have skin-to-skin contact with her baby girl, who weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces. She was delivered without complications by the family’s trusted doctor Paul Crane at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at 12:47 a.m. PT.
West, 40, was also in the room, but he stood behind a curtain until the baby was born and then held her. In addition, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star’s mother, Kris Jenner, and sisters came to the hospital to meet the new bundle of joy, though they were not in the delivery room.
TMZ reported that the surrogate was allowed to have some contact with the baby after the delivery before she was officially put into the care of her parents, joining siblings North, 4, and Saint, 2.
“Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl,” Kardashian announced in a post on her app on Tuesday, January 16. “We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”
Us Weekly broke the news in July 2017 that the couple, who wed in Italy in May 2014, were expecting their third child via surrogate. The reality star confirmed the news in late September.
