Kim Kardashian used to be a fairly active tweeter. But now that she has a new baby at home — daughter North West, her first child with boyfriend Kanye West — it takes something pretty special to tear her away from the joys of motherhood. Something like her niece's first birthday, for example.
On Monday, July 8, the 32-year-old new mom took a quick break from doting on 3-week-old North to pay tribute to another special tot in her life: sister Kourtney Kardashian's infant daughter Penelope Scotland Disick. (Kourtney and longtime love Scott Disick are also parents to a 3-year-old son, Mason.)
"Hope my little Peep had the best 1st birthday today," Kim tweeted, along with three little icons of a happy face, a heart, and a sun.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has been relatively quiet on social media ever since giving birth to baby North on June 15, five weeks before her due date. In recent weeks, she has surfaced only to promote her reality show on Sundays and to send birthday wishes to family and friends.
Her first post-delivery tweet was a message to sister Khloe Kardashian on June 27, Khloe's 29th birthday. "The birthday girl! I love you so much!!!!" she tweeted, along with two photo collages of the siblings together. "The most loyal & supportive person on the planet! Life wouldn't be the same…"
Kim also took to Twitter on July 7 to acknowledge a couple of good gal pals. "I'm catching up on my birthday shout-outs! My best friends all have the same birthday! Must mean something," she wrote, extending birthday wishes to BFFs Robin Antin and Larsa Pippen.
Aside from those few messages, however, the media-savvy mom has been mostly silent. "Motherhood has changed her," a source told Us Weekly recently of the star. Added friend and trainer Tracy Anderson: "She's in baby heaven."
