You won’t hear Big Bang Theory actress Mayim Bialik utter a bad word about her ex-husband Michael Stone. Especially in front of their sons Miles, 12, and Frederick, 9. (The former couple split in 2012 after 9 years of marriage.)
“You know, I think a lot of people don’t realize the impact of even subtle comments,” Bialik, 42, recently told Us Weekly and other reporters at the Hollywood Salutes Israel in L.A. “I spend a lot of time building my ex up for my boys.”

Bialik, who has a Ph.D in neuroscience, recalled how her Miles and Frederick wanted to get Stone a “generic” Father’s Day card. “I said, ‘No, I’d like you to dig a little deeper,’” she revealed. “‘He’s amazing. He’s your at-home dad.’”
She added: ”I think its really important to build that spouse up and leave all that other stuff outside of your relationship.”
The Blossom alum has moved on since the divorce, as she’s now been dating someone “for a long time, like four years.” But she did not disclose his name. “I keep it pretty private,” she explained. “I have to try and have a date night but often times it’s watching Netflix.”
Between filming an Emmy-winning CBS series, raising two children and dating, Bialik occasionally squeezes in some alone time. “I write. I sleep. I like movies. Mainly superhero action movies,” she said. “I try not to work as much when I’m with my boys so a lot of ‘me time’ is work time.”
Bialik will hopefully be able to unwind in Israel when she travels there later in June. The star — her name means water in Hebrew — has been going to the country every other year since the age of 16. “I love Israel,” gushed Bialik. “I love everything about it. I love the food, I love the culture. I love the complexity. I love that you can disagree with the policies of the state of Israel sometimes but still love the country. Literally, it’s one of my favorite places to be.”
