Michael Phelps and his wife, Nicole, are ready to become parents — again! The duo had a baby shower to celebrate the upcoming arrival of their second child.
“Thanks to those who came to celebrate today!! #babyshark,” Michael, 32, captioned a pic with his wife and 1-year-old son Boomer on Sunday, February 11, via Instagram.
“Such an amazing day celebrating our #babyshark!!” Nicole, 32, wrote alongside her photo from the shower. “More photos to come… we are so thankful for everyone who was able to be with us and everyone who was with us in spirit❤.”
Fans were quick to point out that the Gold medalist was wearing a pink shirt at the shower, which may be a hint that the pair, who announced Nicole’s pregnancy in August 2017, are expecting a girl.
“Mike – please tell me your shirt 👚 = GIRL 🎀 @m_phelps00,” one fan wrote.
“Michael’s wearing a pink shirt! 🤔🌸💞😊,” another user commented.
The swimmer opened up exclusively to Us Weekly about preparing for baby No. 2 earlier this month.
“We are so stoked for the second baby,” Michael told Us on Wednesday, February 7. “Nicole and I didn’t know what to expect with No. 1. We’ve gone through it with one child and now it’s going to be the same; we really went through the process of learning how to care for a baby, so we feel a little more prepared, but also know that two is going to be very, very different.”
He added, “We kind of have the same attitude that we had for No. 1 and hope for the best and everything going as smooth as possible and hoping for a healthy baby and learning how challenging it is. We really are now focused on making sure the baby is healthy and Nicole is happy and healthy.”
Michael told Us on Wednesday that the couple will welcome their second bundle of joy “any day now.”
