Newest addition! Michelle Branch welcomed her first child with fiancé Patrick Carney, Us Weekly can confirm.
“Patrick and I are over the moon in love with our son Rhys James Carney,” Branch, 35, captioned a picture of the newborn via Instagram on Thursday, August 30. “born August 28th, 2018 at 11:48pm. 8 lbs 13oz 20 inches.”
The “Everywhere” singer announced her pregnancy in February. “Well, we were just about to send out Save the Dates for our wedding in May when we got this little surprise,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “Baby Carney is happening this summer and Patrick and I couldn’t be more excited! xx @officialpatrickcarney.”
The Grammy winner, who also shares 12-year-old daughter Owen with ex-husband Teddy Landau, met Carney in 2015 while working on her album Hopeless Romantic. The pair started dating shortly after and got engaged in July 2017.
Branch opened up about working with The Black Keys drummer, 38, during a March 2017 interview with Billboard.
“The record wouldn’t have seen the light of day had he not been involved. That’s why it was important for him to be up there — when we were making it it felt like us agains the world,” she gushed at the time. “Pat has said, ‘I remember seeing you on MTV in the early 2000s and thinking you were really cute.’ It’s, like, why couldn’t we have just met each other in our twenties? We would have saved so much heartache!”
Branch filed for divorce from Landau in February 2015 after 11 years of marriage.
