Nicky Hilton stopped by Us Weekly to share all the details from the over-the-top, blinged-out 8th birthday party she hosted for daughter Lily-Grace at the family’s Bel-Air, California home on Sunday, August 11th. She chatted about the Pop Up & Away with Ring Pop®-themed extravaganza – designed and produced by Melissa Andre Design Company – in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly editor-in-chief, Dan Wakeford.
USW: I’ve been to many Hilton parties over the years, and I hear there was a kid’s over-the-top Ring Pop party birthday party at your house.
Nicky: It was! We had my daughter’s 8th birthday party, and she wanted a Ring Pop theme, which was so perfect and fun. It’s such a great theme because there are so many different colors and flavors. There’s a little something for everybody.
USW: You mentioned planning the event. Did you do it all on your own?
Nicky: No, I worked with Melissa Andre and her team, and they were fabulous. They totally got the vision. We wanted it to be fun, bright, colorful, and Ring Pops everywhere.
USW: What are some of your favorite party moments as a kid?
Nicky: I always say the best part about a party is getting ready for the party. I feel like my family is always throwing a party, whether it’s a birthday party, a bridal shower, baby shower, or Christmas parties. My mom and I love tabletop décor and decorating.
USW: You integrated that idea of perfection and preparing into this party, as well as the decorations.
Nicky: Yes! I love edible decorations, so adding all the Ring Pops for the birthday party was practical and pretty.
USW: Was she excited to have her brother and sister and all her cousins at the party?
Nicky: Yes. Her Ring Pop birthday was the highlight of her summer. All her friends, her family, cousins. She loved it, every minute.
USW: What are some fun tips and tricks for other moms who want to host a birthday party for their kids?
Nicky: Having a fun theme. I went with the Ring Pop theme because my daughters adore them. I think a fun colorful theme that you can make cute decorations out of and incorporate throughout the theme. Ring pops make any party over the top. It doesn’t just have to be for birthdays, it can really be for any occasion.
Dan: Cheers to that! So many Ring pops, were there any leftovers?
Nicky: Funny you asked that, Dan! There were some leftovers, and my parents had an event that night. My daughters took the leftovers and started selling them to my parent’s friends and they raised over $100 for God’s Love We Deliver.
Dan: Another Hilton entrepreneur. Just what the world needs!
