From fashion designer to…PTA mom?
Victoria Beckham put her day job on hold to chaperone her sons' school field trip, the model mom, 35, reveals in a new interview with WWD.
Where did Beckham bring the 40 six-year-olds, including son Romeo? To a local airport for a lesson on transportation!
The former Spice Girls singer — who says she still ferries Romeo and his brothers Brooklyn, 10, and Cruz, 4, to and from their school with hubby David despite her hectic schedule — appreciates giving back to her kids' school community.
"I've always been driven," London-born Beckham tells WWD. "I was mentally and physically bullied when I was at school and that gave me a very thick skin…I've always been a fighter."
She may not get to chaperone many more field trips this winter, though. Her schedule is about to get even busier as she relaunches her fashion collection and preps for an appearance during American Idol's ninth season in January.
Beckham, a fan of Idol who has attended tapings in past seasons, jokes that despite her stoic demeaner, she'll try to maintain departed judge Paula Abdul's dynamic as the "really sweet" judge when she critiques the Denver Idol wannabes.
"I want to be nice to people," she told Idol host Ryan Seacrest of her role. "I know how it feels to be stood there and be judged and how it can feel when nerves get the better of you, and I don't want to shatter anybody's dream. But at the same time, there's nothing wrong with a little bit of constructive criticism. It's doing it nicely, because even those that are bad, they don't know that they're bad and who am I to shatter that?"
