Pregnant Eva Longoria could write a book on acting, directing and designing. But babies? “I’m not an expert,” the 42-year-old told Us Weekly on Tuesday, March 6. Longoria may have plenty of experience with older kids thanks to her husband Jose “Pepe” Baston, who shares Jose, Tali and Mariana with ex-wife Esperon, but little ones are uncharted territory.
Luckily, the Overboard actress has stayed in touch with her Desperate Housewives costars Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman. (Cross is mom of 11-year-old twins Eden and Savannah, while Huffman has daughters, Sofia, 17, Georgia, 15, with William H. Macy.)
“Oh my gosh, Marcia and Felicity have given me advice,” Longoria told Us. Though the series that ran from 2004 to 2012 went off the air eight years ago, the women are regularly in touch. “We talk a lot,” Longoria revealed. “They’re always supportive and amazing moms.”
Maybe they can weigh in on baby names. Longoria admitted that she and Baston, 49, still haven’t locked down a moniker. But it’s understandable considering how busy Longoria is with her Namesake Fashion Collection with HSN that drops on March 22.
“We have an amazing design team that follows trends, not only in styles, but in colors,” Longoria explained. She’s especially excited about the jeans. “I like high-rise because no woman wants a muffin top and then on our denim we do this power sculpt pocket which gives the illusion of a perky bum.”
When it comes to her pregnancy style, Longoria has one rule. “I’m not a fan of empire waist or A-Line things,” she told Us. Instead she opts for jumpsuits and bomber jackets.
“I’ve been searching, ‘Great maternity wear’ and it’s not there,” she said. But Longoria has no plans to launch such a range — even though people have asked her if she’s doing a maternity line. “I’m like, ‘I’m not Jessica Alba. I don’t have three kids.’ I think I’m not quite in the mommy group just yet!”
