Been there, done that? Hilary Duff, who is expecting her second child, revealed in a new interview that she was so excited when she found out she is having a baby girl this time around.
“I was so nervous beforehand because I thought for sure I was going to have a boy,” the Younger actress, 30, admitted on KIIS-FM’s On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday, June 12. “I have a boy already — which would have been great, and I’m obsessed with [my son] Luca — but I just wanted one of each.”
Duff said she isn’t sure why she “cared so much” about the sex of the little one, but she just couldn’t help it.
“My sister has girls and I feel like I’m really girly. But obviously for the past six years, I’ve bought, like, monsters and trucks and planes,” she explained. “Luca is into all the boy stuff, so everything is blue and green. I was just ready for pink and purple stuff. I’m so excited. It’s really fun.”
The “Why Not” singer also opened up about the baby’s recent gender reveal party.
“It was the most fun day. We had close family and friends over,” she gushed. “We ordered these really cute confetti cannons on Etsy. They look like smoke, but it’s powder and then some confetti. You twist them and you all stand there at the same time. … It sounds so silly ‘cause it sounds kind of childish. It’s so exciting.”
Duff announced via Instagram on Friday, June 8, that she is expecting her first child with her boyfriend, Matthew Koma. She shares Luca, 6, with ex-husband Mike Comrie, to whom she was married from 2010 to 2016.
The Lizzie McGuire alum later said on The Late Late Show With James Corden that Luca is “warming up to the idea” of becoming a big brother. “I think it’s a girl, but he told his friends at school the other day that he’s having a sister that’s part red-butt monkey, so we’ll see,” she quipped. “We never know.”
