On the mend! Pregnant Mercedes Javid spent a night in the hospital for cervical cerclage surgery back in December — but the Shahs of Sunset star just shared footage from her time in the maternity ward.
“We had a little situation with my cervix measuring too small, and now we’re monitoring it,” the reality star, 46, said from a hospital bed in the Sunday, February 20, video. “It’s been a pretty uneventful pregnancy until this week and now we’re just feeling like we’re in pretty good hands. It’s gonna be bed rest for awhile.”
Javid expanded on this in the caption, writing, “This little vid was taken after xmas, moments before my exceptionally incredible doctor … performed this little surgery called a cervical cerclage. You get an epidural, and a stitch, which [is] considered a rescue. Bedrest [sic] is far from the ideal way to spend these beautiful days, but I’m learning a lot during this quiet period. … The procedure is painless and under an hour.”
Us Weekly broke the news that the Bravo star and her husband, Tommy Feight, are expecting their first child together in October 2018. Javid told Us exclusively that she had frozen her eggs before their April wedding that same year.
“I really want all women who are single and 35 years old to run to their fertility doctors and get it done,” she said in August. “I just think it’s really awful to wait and put it off until you’re over 40 because you’re just increasing your odds and you’re just making it harder for yourself.”
Now that she’s experiencing pregnancy complications, Javid is staying positive. “How I’ve gotten through this is with a lot of faith, my beautiful father’s calming spirit inside of me, along with a maternal strength, and my husband’s unrelenting support and kindness,” she added on Instagram.
