Prince Harry Says He’s ‘Had About 2 Hours’ of Sleep Since Duchess Meghan Gave Birth to Son

And so it begins! Hours after the birth of his first child with Duchess Meghan, Prince Harry admitted to feeling a very common condition suffered by new parents.

“I’ve had about two hours’ sleep,” the 34-year-old former military pilot quipped as he greeted media outside Windsor Castle in England on Monday, May 6, shortly after he and the Suits alum, 37, welcomed their baby boy, according to ITV News.

Harry’s comment on his lack of rest came after he addressed reporters and gushed over his wife and newborn son. “Meghan and myself had a baby boy early this morning — a very healthy boy,” the Duke of Sussex said excitedly. “Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. This has been the most amazing experience I could possibly imagine.”

Harry added: “How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension. But we are both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support from everyone out there. It’s been amazing. So we just wanted to share this with everybody.”

The prince went on to detail the emotional life-changing moment. “I haven’t been in many births. This is definitely my first birth. It was amazing, absolutely incredible,” Harry explained. “As I said, I am so incredibly proud of my wife and as every father and parent would ever say, your baby is absolutely amazing, but this little thing is absolutely to die for, so I’m just over the moon.”

Harry and Meghan — who wed in May 2018 — announced the arrival of their son in an Instagram post on Monday.

“We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz,” the couple wrote. “The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives. More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.”
