Kelly Dodd claims her daughter, Jolie Dodd, “completely changed” after a trip abroad.
“She had a wonderful upbringing, but then she went to Paris and got woke,” Kelly, 50, claimed on the June 3 episode of the “Hate to Break It to Ya” podcast. “I’m serious. I’m dead serious. It’s not even a joke.”
While chatting with host Jamie Kennedy, Kelly claimed her college sophomore daughter could be getting “brainwashed” as she studies in France.
“[She’s] getting woke, getting indoctrinated. It’s a socialist country. It became that,” she claimed. “You get brainwashed in college. They get brainwashed. [The colleges are] all left-leaning.”
According to Kelly, Jolie, 20, “doesn’t believe in ICE” and gets into arguments with her mom about the controversial federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security that is responsible for criminal investigations, border control and enforcing immigration laws.
“She won’t let you talk. She won’t listen,” Kelly claimed. “We got in a fight, and she went to her dad’s. She hasn’t lived with her dad [Michael] ever. She’s always lived with me. I raised her.”
When asked about Kelly’s latest interview, Jolie had no comment.
In her latest podcast interview, Kelly wondered if she should have followed a different parenting style as her daughter went from a teenager to a young adult.
“Do you know Carnie Wilson?” Kelly asked. “I love Carnie. She’s one of my favorite people of all time, but her parenting style — I need to learn from her because I’m the complete opposite of her. I’m listening to the way she’s raising her daughter. She lets her sleep until one or two in the morning and then sleeps until noon. She allows this. I was the antithesis of that.”
The former Real Housewives of Orange County star described herself as a “hard ass” who is “strict.”
“My daughter didn’t like the rules,” Kelly added, “and right now, she’s rebelling.”
Kelly’s comments have already received mixed reviews from podcast listeners. The Valley: Persian Style star Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi saw a clip from the podcast and commented, “Barf.”
As for Kennedy, 56, he claims Kelly isn’t the first mother who has seen changes in their kids once they go to college.
“I have been hearing this from a lot of parents, that once the children go off to school their brains get hijacked. How many people can relate to this?” he asked via Instagram on Sunday, June 7. “When I moved to LA my sister told my mom, ‘You gotta watch Jamie. He is highly suggestible’ and my mother said ‘NOO that we instilled our morals in that boy!!!’ And she was right. I’m scared to do things now that wud piss my mother off and she ain’t here. What changed???”
