Shawn Johnson East has addressed an online rumor that she’s pregnant with her fourth baby.
The former gymnast, 34, took to her Instagram Story on Thursday, February 26, to share a screenshot of a TikTok video featuring a clip from Shawn and husband Andrew East’s “Couple Things” podcast.
“4th Pregnancy Announcement! Veteran Mom Shares All,” the video’s caption read.
Over the screenshot, Shawn wrote, “SPAM! NOT TRUE AND NOT OUR ACCOUNT HAHAHAHAH this was our announcement for being pregnant with BEAR!”
Shawn and Andrew, also 34, share daughter Drew, 6, and sons Jett, 4, and Barrett, a.k.a. “Bear,” 2.
The pregnancy rumor comes nearly one year after Shawn exclusively told Us Weekly that her family feels “complete” with three kids.
“My daughter’s 5, and then we have a 3-year-old and 1-year-old boy. It’s a lot. It’s perfect. I feel complete,” she told Us in March 2025. “I feel like our family is complete. It’s the most amazing dynamic.”
Shawn continued, “I always tell my husband, if we have a fourth, it’ll be an oopsie down the road. But it’s not happening intentionally anytime soon.”
Though the idea of baby No. 4 sounded “amazing” to Shawn, she explained that she wouldn’t feel physically able to handle the demands. (The Olympic gold medalist welcomed her three children via C-section.)
“I love babies. I would love more siblings for my kids, I would love more, but I do feel like my capacity [has been] reached as a mom,” she explained. “And going through a fourth, I have to have C-sections and a fourth pregnancy. I won’t be able to be the mom that I want to be. I don’t feel like I’ll be able to be as active and as invested. My bandwidth is reached.”
However, Shawn said she would be open to adopting a child in the future.
“I will take more babies. I would love them, but I still feel like I am at capacity,” she told Us. “If we ever went down the fourth route, I would definitely think about adoption over a pregnancy just because having a fourth C-section would be hard.”
Shawn, who experienced a miscarriage in 2017, previously opened up about feeling guilty about delivering Drew via C-section.
“I went in with such a stubborn mindset of thinking the only way I could bring our baby into the world was naturally. No meds, no intervention. At 14 hours when I chose to get an epidural, I felt guilty. At 22 hours when we were told I had to get a C-section, I felt like I had failed,” she wrote via Instagram in 2019.
However, Shawn ultimately changed her perspective.
“After holding our sweet girl in my arms and being told everything went well and she had made it to us safely, I could [not] have cared less,” she continued. “My/our world no longer has anything to do with us but everything to do with her. It’s all for her and I will forever do anything for this girl that I love more than I ever could imagine. A love no one can ever prepare you for.”
