Better safe than sorry! Steven Tyler revealed that he loves spending time with his grandkids in his indoor pool, which he built to keep his kids safe.
“Everybody fell in love with Maui [in 1977], so I built an indoor pool,” the Aerosmith frontman, 70, told Us Weekly at his Grammy Awards viewing party to benefit Janie’s Fund presented by Live Nation on Sunday, February 10. “I don’t want the kids out on the street smoking weed, so I built an indoor pool to protect them. So they go in there and smoke weed.”
The “Walk This Way” singer added: “I walk in [and] go, ‘Taj, where are you?’” referring to his 28-year-old son. Tyler welcomed Taj and his daughter Anne with Teresa Barrick, after fathering Mia with Cyrinda Foxe and Liv with Bebe Buell.
The legendary rocker also has four grandkids: Mia’s son, Axton, 21 months, and Liv’s children, Lula, 2, Sailor, 4, and Milo, 14. He revealed that their favorite thing to do with “Papa Stevie” is hit the pool.
But the little ones don’t understand what an icon their grandpa is. “It doesn’t mean anything to them,” the former American Idol judge admitted. “I saw it once when … Liv’s first baby was growing up and she brought him to a show. He was in the front row and he was, like, [staring up], and it was just a beautiful moment. It’s beautiful.”
The four-time Grammy winner has shared many sweet moments with his grandchildren on social media. When Sailor, arrived in 2015, he was there for the baby boy’s birth.
“When I got the call that Liv was going into labor, after crying like a baby myself, I immediately dropped everything and went to the airport to get on the next available flight,” the New York native said in a Facebook statement at the time. “I made it RIGHT in time before my second grandson entered this world. It was another (God wink) moment of a lifetime for me.”
