For Teen Mom's Amber Portwood and Farrah Abraham, hindsight really is 20/20.
In a new PSA released to observe Wednesday's National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, the reality stars — along with fellow MTV moms Maci Bookout and Catelynn Lowell — speak out about safe sex and pregnancy prevention. (Watch the PSA Above)
Portwood, 20, who welcomed daughter Leah in 2008 with ex Gary Shirley, says she relishes being a mom, but feels she missed out on what her teenage years could have been.
"Having a kid makes your life go faster," Portwood says in an exclusive outtake from the PSA film shoot. "You feel like you're missing out on some things — what other teenagers would be doing — but you're learning what a mother's learning. Only sooner than you thought."
Echoes Abraham, 19, mom to daughter Sophia: "I feel like the proper time for me to have my daughter is later, when I'm 25 or 30, not when I'm 16. I wish I would have waited a good 10 more years."
The cast of MTV's Teen Mom will appear on Dr. Drew Pinksy's HLN series Wednesday at 9 p.m. (EST). For more information on the It's Your Sex Life initiative, visit ItsYourSexLife.org.
