“This time around, I’m older, which I was a little worried about, but I have more energy,” the 39-year-old told Us on Thursday, January 25. “With my first pregnancy, I was kind of afraid to exercise. It was my first. This time around, I’m exercising. It just seems to be going rather well.”

The Instant Mom alum — who is having a baby girl — said that she’s enjoying this pregnancy more and it’s in part due to not having to deal with morning sickness. “I had nausea with my son throughout my whole entire pregnancy and it was terrible,” she told Us. “This time around, I only had it in the first trimester and I didn’t think it was going to go away. When it went away, I was like, ‘Hallelujah. This is what it feels like?’”

Just like with her first child, Cree, 6, Mowry found out she was expecting while her husband was away filming — this time he was shooting #211 with Nicholas Cage in Bulgaria. “I called him on the phone and I told him that I was pregnant, but I guess both moments for me were amazing and tears of joy,” she recalled. “I was so incredibly happy because it was hard getting pregnant for both times. We were just so ecstatic.”

The Game alum told Us that her firstborn is “so happy” that he’s getting a little sister but is already asking his parents for a brother. The couple are celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary on April 20 and she told Us that prioritizing their family over their careers has been key to making their marriage work. “We make time and it’s all about prioritizing,” she said. “Family is really, really important to both of us. We know that that is our foundation.”

She added: “I think the main thing is that we value it, we cherish it, and we work at it. It’s not by coincidence, so let’s just say that, and we communicate.”

The actress was at the Life Hack Academy Live Presented by Ford EcoSport event on Thursday, which is an experiential event showcasing simple tips and tricks that simplify your life, and she gave Us some advice about how to stay balanced.

“I really take everything not only a day at a time but a moment at a time. I always like to be present no matter what I’m doing,” the actress, who has a YouTube channel called Tia Mowry’s Quick Fix, said. “I’ve learned to forgive myself because it can get a little overwhelming at times. Sometimes when you have this to-do list in front of you and you become so obsessed with checking everything off, it no longer becomes fun.”

She added: “We have a whole lifetime to check off those things, so forgive yourself.”
