Tom Parker’s widow, Kelsey Parker, is reflecting on the loss of her newborn son, Phoenix, in honor of baby loss awareness week.
“A year ago, I gave birth to my son Phoenix at home. When he entered this world, he had already left it,” Kelsey, 36, wrote via Instagram on Friday, October 9. “I will carry that for the rest of my life. But there’s another part of that day I still can’t come to terms with. What happened afterwards.”
On what she describes as “the worst day of my life,” Kelsey said she was made to feel “like I did something wrong.”
“I think about those hours all the time,” she continued. “What breaks my heart even more is knowing that somewhere, right now, another mum is going through exactly the same thing. That is why I will never stop talking about Phoenix.”
Kelsey argued that no parent should have to fight to be treated with “dignity, kindness and compassion” after losing a baby.
“To every professional who meets a family in those first hours: your words and your actions stay with us forever. Please choose them with care,” she said. “This Baby Loss Awareness Week, I’m using my voice for the families who haven’t yet found theirs. If you’ve lost a baby, your baby matters. If you feel comfortable, share their name in the comments. I promise I’ll read every single one.”
Kelsey and Tom tied the knot in 2018, four years before The Wanted singer died after a stage IV glioblastoma diagnosis. He was 33.
She welcomed two children, Aurelia, 7, and Bodhi, 5, with Tom before his death. In 2025, Kelsey shared the loss of her son Phoenix with her partner Will Lindsay. They later welcomed a rainbow baby named River in September.
“After everything we’ve been through, I don’t take a single moment for granted,” Kelsey wrote via Instagram on September 27 after River’s arrival. “Life can hold so much love and so much loss at the same time. And right now, I’m just letting myself feel it all.”
As Kelsey continues her grieving journey while being the best possible parent to her other children, the With and Without You author has vowed to never stop talking about Phoenix.
“Phoenix, I will spend the rest of my life making sure your little life makes a difference,” Kelsey wrote via Instagram. “#BabyLossAwarenessWeek #BLAW #BabyLoss #Stillbirth #BreakTheSilence.”
