For eight seasons, William H. Macy has played a drunken, deadbeat dad on Showtime’s Shameless. In real life, the 68-year-old is a total softie — especially when it comes to his daughters Sofia, 17, and Georgia, 16.
The actor’s wife, Felicity Huffman, tweeted a photo of her husband close to tears on Tuesday, April 24. Huffman, 55, captioned the sweet moment: “The girl tried on her prom dress. The dad took her for a spin.” In the picture, “the girl” wears a strapless, pale blue gown, while Macy keeps it casual in a plaid bathrobe.

“This makes my heart explode!” replied American Crime Story star Sarah Paulson. Huffman’s pal and fellow Desperate Housewives alum Marcia Cross couldn’t handle the sweetness either. “OMG be still my heart,” wrote Cross, 56. “Seems like she was just sitting on your lap in the makeup trailer. xoxo m.”
Macy and Huffman, who tied the knot more than 20 years ago, opened up about their relationship to Us Weekly earlier this month. “I’m the luckiest guy,” he told Us while promoting their new film Krystal. “I won the lottery. I love being married to Felicity.”
Huffman feels the same way about him. As she gushed to Us: “I lucked out, I married Bill Macy.”
Macy, who lovingly refers to Huffman as “Flicka,” also praised her parenting skills. “She sees us, I’ll just speak for my two daughters and me. When Flicka looks at us, she sees us, and that’s rare in this world,” he told Us. “She is 100 percent supportive. She’s fierce, which my daughters just love, and they emulate.”
