Adorable 102-Year-Old Woman Gets Arrested to Cross It Off Her Bucket List

She asked for it! Edie Simms, a 102-year-old woman from St. Louis, Missouri, was handcuffed and placed in the back of a police car for the first time September 30 — all because she wanted to cross “get arrested” off her bucket list.

“She was so excited that she can ride in a police car, and she said, ‘Do you think you could put those handcuffs on me?'” Michael Howard, executive director of St. Louis’ Five Star Senior Center, told ABC News Monday, October 3. “A St. Louis county car pulled up next to the police and Edie holds up her hands with the handcuffs on. She’s just a riot.”

Simms is a frequent visitor at the senior citizen center, according to KPLR. Last year, she sewed and stitched 413 blankets, scarves, socks and other handmade items for her friends at Five Star Senior Center.

“Keep going, don’t ever stop whatever it is you’re doing and spend some time doing community service,” she told the local news outlet after her faux arrest. “Sometimes the person you reach out and touch is the only person that they will talk to in a day.”

Simms has a sense of humor too. She recently celebrated her 102nd birthday on September 25, and joked with KPLR: “You can tell what my folks were doing on [the] Christmas before. They were making babies.”

Following her arrest, Simms told the site she was grateful for the St. Louis officers who made her wish come true, saying, “It’s a great world if you just open your eyes and look at it.”
