Better luck next time, Al! Al Roker tried to locate his missing wallet on Tuesday, January 26, by turning to Twitter for help. Unfortunately for the Today show weatherman, however, he was only met with words of sympathy — and one sassy reply from Late Late Show host James Corden.
“Ugh. Lost my wallet in a yellow cab this afternoon on the west side. Bummer,” Roker, 61, wrote. “It worked for @MarkRuffalo Maybe it’ll work for me.”
Fans quickly chimed in with helpful advice and kind words.
“You’ll get it back! I’m confident someone will do the right thing,” one user wrote.
“You WILL get it back. You’re so nice to others … it’s time it comes back,” another tweeted.
“Been there … done that,” yet another replied. “Staying positive, it shows that you’ve shunned sporting the dreaded Fannie pack! A man of good taste.”
Corden, 37, couldn’t resist the chance to chime in.
“I just found @alroker’s wallet in a cab in NYC,” he tweeted. “I’ll sell it to the highest bidder.”
Roker shared the story on the Today show Wednesday, January 27, noting that he doesn’t think Corden actually has his wallet.
“I thought I’d do a Ruffalo,” Roker quipped good-naturedly, in reference to Mark Ruffalo, who lost his wallet earlier this month and retrieved it through the mass reach of social media.
“APB out for a cell phone in a wallet case out on the streets of NYC in a blizzard,” Ruffalo, 48, tweeted on January 23. “My drivers license is in there. Reward and signed pic.”
Twenty minutes later, two good Samaritans found Ruffalo’s wallet and promptly returned the lost property to the Avengers star.
