Snape found his Lily! British actor Alan Rickman met his first girlfriend Rima Horton in 1965 when he was 19 and she was 18. In 1977 they moved in together and have been a couple ever since.
In a new interview with the German site Bild, Rickman, now 69, revealed that he is now a married man. When a reporter asked him what the secret to marriage or, in his case, a long-term relationship was, he replied, “We are actually married! We make each other laugh.”
The Daily Mail reported more from Rickman’s Bild interview, adding that the couple recently married in New York and afterwards, “We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and ate lunch.”
Rickman has done several projects in New York, starring in the Broadway play Seminar from 2011 to 2012 and playing Hilly Kristal in the film CBGB, about the famed East Village punk-rock club.
The seasoned actor has won a Golden Globe, Emmy, and SAG Award in his celebrated career, which includes playing Professor Severus Snape in all eight Harry Potter films, as well as major roles in hit films like 1988’s Die Hard, 1999’s Galaxy Quest, 1999’s Dogma, 2003’s Love Actually, and 2007’s Sweeney Todd.
