Amy Duggar King is showing support for her fellow TLC alum Collin Gosselin amid his claims about his mom, Kate Gosselin.
“OK, y’all, the Collin versus Kate Gosselin situation is exploding,” Duggar King, 39, said in a video shared via her Instagram Stories on Thursday, July 2. “I heard that Collin wants to sit her down in the same room with her, both be strapped up to a lie detector test, and really just go all in and explain everything, and have her ask or answer all the questions, and really, like, show you the truth.”
The former reality TV personality added that she thinks Collin, 22, is “onto something” with his idea.
“I, too, would love to set some people in a room with myself and [do] a lie detector test,” she concluded.
Duggar King, the niece of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, grew up appearing on the couple’s reality series, 19 Kids and Counting, which documented their life with 19 children. Similarly, Kate, 51, and ex-husband Jon Gosselin starred on Jon & Kate Plus 8, which followed their journey as parents of twins Mady and Cara, 25, and sextuplets Collin, Hannah, Aaden, Leah, Alexis and Joel, all 22. Both shows aired on TLC in the early to mid-2000s.
Both Duggar King and Collin have spoken out about alleged abuse in their families since the shows came to an end. In 2025, Duggar King published her memoir, Holy Disruptor: Shattering the Shiny Facade While Getting Louder with the Truth, which explored her life growing up around the Duggar family known as “Crazy Cousin Amy” and breaking free from toxic cycles.

Now, Collin is set to release his own memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, in October. The book chronicles Collin’s life during and after reality TV and his estranged relationship with his mother after he claimed that she physically abused him as a child and institutionalized him for two years in order to silence him. (Kate has denied the allegations, claiming that she sent Collin to a behavioral institution due to “violent and unpredictable behavior.”)
“My life was always broadcast to millions, but what was actually happening in my life was never shown — in fact, much of it was deliberately kept hidden,” Collin exclusively told Us Weekly last month. “For years, other people told my story through headlines, television episodes and public speculation.”
He continued, “Now, finally, I’m sharing what was really happening behind the scenes. This book is about truth, survival, resilience and finding my voice after years of being silenced. If my story helps even one person feel less alone or gives them the courage to tell their own, then every difficult page was worth writing.”
Kate addressed Collin’s claims ahead of the book’s release, sharing whether or not she plans to take legal action against her son.
“The rules are different for ppl in the public eye. I consulted a high power LA attorney (you’ve definitely heard of him) years ago when other ppl were putting crazy stuff out there and that’s what he said,” she wrote via a TikTok comment. “The courts don’t honor it if you’re in the public eye :(.”
In the Shadow of Eight is set for release on October 13.
