Anna Camp is living her best and most authentic life since publicly coming out as bisexual.
“I very much feel like I am free,” Camp, 43, exclusively told Us while promoting her new HGTV show, A Very Haunted Renovation. “There’s no other way to really put it.”
The Pitch Perfect star explained that being honest about her sexuality has been the ultimate liberation after living in the spotlight for so long.
“When you feel like you’ve been living your life in this idea forum and, like, wanting to not rock the boat or wanting to please people,” Camp continued. “And being from the south, you know, I was trained to be very polite, acceptable.”
The actress noted that she had a lightbulb moment when she “just said, ‘What have I been doing?’” and decided, “I’m gonna be me no matter what.”
That openness allowed her to find girlfriend Jade Whipkey and feel joy.
“I’ve fallen in love with an amazing woman, and things are just so. I just feel really like I’m learning who Anna is,” Camp told Us. “It’s been really, really lovely.”
Camp revealed in a February 2025 TikTok video that made its round that May that she was no longer dating men, while soft launching her romance with Whipkey, 25. (The True Blood alum was previously married to Michael Mosely from 2010 to 2013 and to Skylar Astin from 2016 to 2019.)
One year later, Camp shared that she was bisexual amid her relationship with the writer and on-set stylist.
“As a 43-year-old woman, I am very proud of myself for owning my sexuality at this age,” she said during a March appearance on the “I’ve Never Said This Before With Tommy DiDario” podcast. “I am a very strong person for doing it in somewhat of a spotlight with people criticizing and judging and making assumptions. I’m really proud to be bisexual.”
The Scream 7 actress exclusively told Us about her connection with Whipkey two months later, explaining that her girlfriend “accepts and loves me for everything that I am.”
“I feel like I can cry in front of her, I can laugh in front of her, I can take my time doing my makeup,” Camp gushed in May. “There’s things that, as a woman in a relationship with another woman, I’ve never had before. I’ve always felt like I was doing things in order to keep a man happy, and I’m not doing that anymore.”
In addition to embracing all sides of herself, Camp has continued to challenge herself professionally by hosting HGTV’s A Very Haunted Renovation.
“I have watched HGTV for as long as I can remember, and I’ve always been just fascinated by how much work that they get done and the amount of time that these designers do it in,” Camp told Us. “So I was just very excited to jump at the chance to host the show, especially because it dealt with ghosts.”
