Move over Snoop Dogg! The hottest rapper in the game is… Anne Hathaway? The Les Misérables star took on Snoop’s 1994 hit song “Gin and Juice” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night, putting a show tune spin on the classic hip-hop joint.
Appearing on Fallon to promote Rio 2, Hathaway, 31, went on to cover 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” with some booty-shaking dance moves while Fallon played a jazz rendition of the melody on the piano.
Sporting a chic one-shoulder black Osman jumpsuit and a Phyne by Paige Novick ring, the Oscar-winning star also took on Kendrick Lamar’s “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe.” Hathaway riffed on the chart-topper, referencing the widespread drubbing that she suffered after the 2013 awards season, singing, “Oh, you dirty, Hatha-hating bitch-ass bitch, don’t kill my vibe.”
This tongue-in-cheek acknowledgment is not the first reference Hathaway has made to the backlash she sparked after her acceptance speech for the Best Supporting Actress award at the 85th annual Academy Awards.
“It does get to me,” she told Us backstage at the Oscars. “But you have to remember in life that there’s a positive to every negative and a negative to every positive.”
In the promotion for Rio 2, Hathaway, who also stars in the upcoming Christopher Nolan film Interstellar, has challenged her squeaky-clean image, confessing that she brought a flask of tequila to this year’s Oscars, getting tipsy during the swanky ceremony.
