Actress Anne Meara died at age 85 on Saturday, May 23, the Associated Press reports. She was the wife of actor Jerry Stiller and the mother of Ben Stiller.
The Stiller family released a statement on Sunday, calling Jerry Anne’s “husband and partner in life.”
“The two were married for 61 years and worked together almost as long,” the statement read.
They appeared together on The Ed Sullivan Show and had recurring roles on All My Children and The King of Queens.
In addition to her work with Stiller, Meara was a celebrated comic in her own right with 89 acting credits and one Golden Globe nomination to her name.
She had recurring roles on Archie Bunker’s Place, ALF, and more recently on Sex and the City as Steve Brady’s mother Mary.
In addition to Jerry and Ben, Meara is also survived by her daughter Amy and several grandchildren.
