Is it (uncomfortably) hot in herre? Ashanti kept her 10-year relationship with rapper Nelly close to the vest while they dated, but the same can't be said post-split. The "Foolish" singer opened up about their very private breakup during The Meredith Vieira Show on Friday, Mar. 13.

"You aren't together anymore and you said it basically came down to trust," Vieira, 61, said. "Why do you think it's hard to trust somebody?"

Ashanti kept her answer brief, but didn't hold back. "I think sometimes when people have their own insecurities it allows them to act out of character. I've been betrayed," the 34-year-old said, although she failed to elaborate with specifics.

"Again, you just have to grow. You have to grow up and accept responsibilities for the things that you do," she continued, without giving specifics. "I'm not a big fan of people being cowards. I think it’s really important to know yourself and understand what you want and get it. I’m in a different place right now."

Ashanti and the "Country Grammar" entertainer, 40, quietly dated for nearly a decade, yet neither have ever confirmed when they exactly parted ways. They collaborated on the song "Body On Me" in 2009. A year later, Nelly exclusively told Us Weekly that he was single. (Nelly has a daughter, Chanel, 21, and a son, Cornell, 16, from a previous relationship.)

During the daytime talk show, Ashanti got even more personal when she spoke about a man who's been stalking her since 2003. She described the scary ordeal as "not fun" and said she's had to go to court several times to deal with the issue.
