Aubrey Plaza showed support for her boyfriend Christopher Abbott‘s new show, East of Eden, two months after giving birth to their first baby.
Plaza, 42, hit the red carpet for the New York City premiere on Wednesday, September 30, rocking a sheer black dress paired with a blazer. While the couple didn’t pose together on the red carpet, Abbott, 40, celebrated the night alongside costars Florence Pugh, Mike Faist, Joseph Zada and more.
Wednesday’s premiere marks Plaza’s first red carpet since giving birth in July. The actress’ rep confirmed her pregnancy in April.
“Well, there’s a baby inside of me,” Plaza said during an appearance on the “SmartLess” podcast that same month when asked about news in her personal life.
Plaza said that she was “excited” about becoming a mom.
“I’ve always wanted to see what that’s all about, you know?” she added. “It just seems so interesting, that whole thing.”
Abbott, for his part, spoke about the milestone on Today in May. “That’s very nice. Thank you very much,” he told Jenna Bush Hager after receiving well-wishes on the morning show. “It’s very exciting.”

The couple met while working together on the 2020 film Black Bear and the 2023 Off-Broadway revival of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. Plaza and Abbott reconnected in 2025, less than one year after her estranged husband, Jeff Baena, died by suicide at age 47.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy,” Plaza’s rep said in a January 2025 statement to Us on behalf of Plaza and family members. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”
Several months later, Plaza spoke out about the loss on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast.
“Overall, I’m here, and I’m functioning, and I feel grateful to be moving through the world,” Plaza said in August 2025. “I think, like, I’m OK, but it’s a daily struggle, obviously.”
Plaza got emotional about weathering the tragedy.
“At all times, there’s, like, a giant ocean of awfulness that’s, like, right there, and I can see it, and sometimes I just wanna dive into it and be in it,” she continued. “And then, sometimes, I just look at it, and sometimes I just try to get away from it.”
