All the feels. Audi has released its breathtaking Super Bowl 50 commercial ahead of the big game on Sunday, February 7, and the sweet ad — featuring a dad and son — is set to the tune of the late David Bowie‘s 1972 classic, “Starman.”
In the opening moments of the commercial, a retired astronaut has lost his zest for life and is wistful for his golden years. The forlorn old man sits silently as he’s surrounded by memorabilia and black and white photos from his space exploration days.
Then, the man’s son stops by the retirement home, and notices right away that his dad needs some cheering up. “Okay, commander. Come with me,” the son says.
The two are then led to the driveway, where Audi’s new 205-mph Audi R8 V10 plus awaits the pair. The son hands his father the key, and the two get into the car. Bowie’s song begins playing while flashbacks from the commander’s first time in a rocket accompany his ride in the car.
