Tom Cruise brought a very special lady along with him for his big night out Tuesday.
Because wife Katie Holmes couldn’t make it, the Rock of Ages star — who was being honored by Godiva with the Friars Foundation’s Entertainment Icon Award — brought six-year-old Suri along to share in his momentous occasion.
“Suri is precious. Tom brought her as his date!” an eventgoer tells Us Weekly. “He brought coloring books and crayons for her.”
Tom Cruise’s only son (whom he adopted with his second wife, Nicole Kidman) Connor Cruise, 17, also came along to show his support for his dad. “Suri loved being in her dad’s arms, and when she wasn’t there, she was in brother Connor’s arms,” the witness shares. Prior to heading in to the event, “Suri and Connor also decided to hide out in a back corner of the press room to watch their dad work the line [of reporters]. It was very cute.”
While accepting his award later that evening, Cruise, 49, explained that most of the women in his life — Holmes as well as his oldest daughter, Bella, 19 — couldn’t be there, as they were busy with work commitments.
“[Katie’s] in China working,” he shared during his sweet speech. “The women are all working. So Suri is my date this evening. Suri, thank you. My son Connor is [also] here. You guys really inspire me.”
