Bachelor Chris Soules Explains Why He Supports No Kid Hungry

Soules tells Us Weekly exclusively that this cause is “near and dear” to his heart, and linking arms with the group was “an absolute no-brainer.”

“I’ve done work with food insecurity in America before,” the professional farmer explains. “I love kids! I have nine nieces and nephews, and I want kids. And I’m a farmer, and I want people to have food. As a farmer, you think that you feel like you feed the world, and then you find out that one in five kids in America are food insecure. It’s frustrating to know that, so being able to be a part of stuff like this is really exciting for me.”

The Farmland Fights Hunger campaign, which Soules is helping to promote, is donating 25 cents for every Farmland product sold now through December 31, up to $100,000. The money goes a long way, with every $1 donation providing a child with 10 healthy meals.

When asked about his favorite Farmland product that will help No Kid Hungry, Soules says, “That’s easy. The bacon is number one! I could eat bacon on everything.”

The 35-year-old, who was engaged to fertility nurse Whitney Bischoff for seven months before calling it quits in 2015, even shared his favorite bacon recipe for the holidays with Us.

“Bacon-wrapped asparagus is something I’m a big fan of,” the Arlington, Iowa, native says. “You have a little healthy stuff in there, and offset it with some bacon!”
