Bethenny Frankel will be the first to admit that her marriage to Jason Hoppy hasn’t always been smooth sailing.
In a new interview with Self magazine, the super-blunt Bravo star, 41, doesn’t deny that she and her love of three years–whom she wed in 2010, after just over a year of dating–have had their share of problems. Still, she says, if she’s going to give fans a glimpse of her life via her reality show, Bethenny Ever After, she wants to make sure she’s portraying herself–and her relationships–as honestly as possible.
“[Jason and I] have had strains. We’ve had major fights,” Frankel admits. “When I signed on to do this show, I committed to myself and my fans to be totally honest. You cannot show people only the petals and not the thorns. It’s not fair to them.”
Frankel’s commitment to being truthful with her viewers about her marriage extends to all aspects of her life–whatever’s happening on-screen is something she’s dealing with off-screen as well, she says.
“The minute I got on TV it was like, don’t be on TV unless you’re not showing who you are,” Frankel tells the magazine. “By just being me, I ended up finding this audience that really related to me, and I ended up connecting to them…that is how it all evolved.”
