Bette Midler Reacts to Kim Kardashian’s Claims: ‘I Never Tried to Fake Friend You’

Can't we watch Hocus Pocus and get along? Bette Midler isn't letting Kim Kardashian get the last word. The actress-singer reacted on Tuesday, March 8, to the reality star's claims that she tried to once be a "fake friend."

"I never tried to fake friend you," Midler, 70, wrote via Twitter. "Looks like anyone can take a selfie but not everyone can take a joke…"

For those not following along, Midler slammed the Selfish author, 35, for posting a nude throwback photo of herself via Instagram on Monday. "Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today. If Kim wants us to see a part of her we've never seen, she's gonna have to swallow the camera," Midler tweeted at the time.

Kardashian responded hours later — and didn't hold back. "hey @BetteMidler I know it's past your bedtime but if you're still up and reading this send nudes #justkidding," she wrote Monday night. "hey @BetteMidler I really didn't want to bring up how you sent me a gift awhile back trying to be a fake friend then come at me #dejavu."

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star didn't end there. She also posted another nude photo of herself and accused Chloë Grace Moretz of slut-shaming her. The actress, 19, previously retweeted Midler's initial comment. After Kardashian's remarks, Moretz also clarified where she stands.

"There's a huge difference in respecting the platform that you're given as a celebrity," Moretz tweeted, "and 'slut shaming' [is] something I never have done and would never do."
