Made in America, and they know it! Beyonce and Jay Z delivered a special surprise to U.S. troops stationed overseas on New Year's Eve. The USO shared the superstar couple's sweet gesture in a press release on Tuesday, Jan. 6, revealing that they had hosted a special screening of their 2014 On The Run concert special for the soldiers.
Servicemen and women stationed in Kuwait and Afghanistan were treated to the exclusive screening of the HBO special. In a video clip provided by the USO, several fans of the singer yelled "Beyhive" as the "Partition" singer delivered her message.
"I just want to say a big thank you to our troops for everything you do to keep our country safe," Beyonce said in the pre-taped clip. "We all sleep better at night knowing that you guys are protecting us, and we're filled with gratitude."
While the couple couldn't join the men and women of the armed forces (as they were on their own vacation jaunt in Thailand and Cambodia), several troops said they appreciated the screening.
"Watching the On The Run concert made me forget I was in Afghanistan for the holidays," said SSgt Ferguson, who is stationed at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan. "Thank you."
