The show must go on. Blake Shelton looked to be in good spirits when he took to the stage to headline the Country Jam USA music festival on Friday, July 24 — his first performance since news broke of his divorce from wife Miranda Lambert on Monday.
The country superstar played a 45-minute set at the Eau Claire, Wisc., festival before thunder and lightning forced him to end the set early.
“Sorry we got cut short Eau Claire… next time we’ll make up for it!” he tweeted to his 13 million followers Friday.
At one point during the show, Shelton, 39, joked, “Man, this isn’t my week,” when the TV cameras failed to scan the crowd when he asked them to.
The easygoing singer even took to Twitter earlier on Friday to exchange some playful tweets with Lambert, 31, sending fans into a flurry in response to the very public interaction.
“Hey Miranda can u believe there’s people who haven’t bought Ashley Monroe’s new album?” he had tweeted, referencing the couple’s pal and fellow country singer. “Isn’t that shocking?!!”
“No I can’t because it is the best work she has ever done! I love it!” Lambert replied, adding, “We love you Ashley Monroe.”
Later in the afternoon, when a fan tweeted that she was “losing respect” for the singers because of the “whole charade,” Shelton had a few choice words to share.
“Well rest assured not one sh-t is given,” he wrote, retweeting the Twitter user.
The country power couple announced their decision to call it quits on their four-year marriage on July 20, telling Us in a joint statement that it “is with heavy hearts” that they go their separate ways.
